For the first time in the nine year history of Le Race, an international team is competing, from New Zealand’s closest neighbour, New Caledonia.
New Caledonian cyclists Chris Jenner, Florian Bonnerot, Gregory Lemaiter, Guillaume Geiller, Mike Villaz and Aude Salmon are being joined by New Zealander Greg Scott for what is billed “New Zealand’s own slice of the mountain stage of the Tour de France”.
The event starts at 8am in the English setting of Christchurch and finishes in the French village of Akaroa.
Stage One - the bunch part: Cathedral Square to Little River. Approx 57km
Stage Two - the really long hill part: The Little River Domain to the Finish line. Approx 43km.
The fastest time Le Race has been completed in is 2 hrs 49 mins.
The New Caledonian Cycle Team appears as part of the "New Caledonia New Zealand Season 2007", an initiative of and proudly supported by the Government and Provinces of New Caledonia.
